Volunteers Needed Friday

Parents!  We need volunteers to help staff the "snack shack" at this Friday's CCS semi-finals football game.  Proceeds support all sports so this is a great way to support CHS Soccer.

Go to Sign Up Snack Shack to sign up for a time slot to work at the game.

Here's to a great 2013-2014 Soccer Season!   The schedule to the right is now updated.  All home games will be played at Carmel Middle School.  If anyone is taking photos for JV and/or Varsity, please contact myself at charlotteempey@hotmail.com and I will get you set up to post your photos/videos for the team to view.  That would be very much appreciated.  I think the team appreciates seeing the photos and with Kes graduating last year we lost our photographer dad in the process :)

As my son graduates, so do I — at least from the position of digitally capturing great CHS soccer moments and assisting with communications.

It has been an honor to coach some of the players since they were in kindergarten, and then follow the many players progress at CMS, and these last years at Carmel High with Coach Ash. Thanks to all the players for letting me stand on the field with you, thanks to Coach Ash for allowing me "join" in, thanks to all of the parents for your dedication to our/your kids and the game.

The website is being passed on to Charolette (aka Colin's Mom). I imagine she will welcome any assistance. I plan to still show up for some games, perhaps with camera in hand — or not.

I have been blessed to be part of a community of players, coaches, and parents who care and seem to know what deeper values are being played-out and learned on and off the field. It is cliche — and it seems as though it does take a village to grow a son, to grow a team, to grow our kids, to grow our community.

Golden Whistle Nomination

It takes a little bit of effort to complete the form and brief essay... yet well worth the effort if we can get wider recognition of Coach Ash's effort in building our soccer program and team, all the while reflecting and teaching values that can be taken off the pitch (field).

Coach Ash was voted All League Coach of the Year

All of this in the first undefeated season in Carmel High Soccer History. Every time you stepped on the pitch you demonstrated how football can be played. Congratulations Lads!

Repeat. All players bring your clean, folded uniforms and packs to the banquet to turn in to your coach.

Many JV players and some Varsity may not get this information because we are on school break. Players, use text and Facebook to contact any players and families that may be on vacation or away. Let them know the banquet date, time, and send them the link to this post.

BANQUET: Save the Date!

Wow!

What a fantastic way to close out League play! JV put it all together and played brilliant football in the last game against PG. Varsity earned a win against a much improved Marina to end our League season undefeated, the first time ever that a Carmel High School boys team has done so!

HISTORY!!!

Second place in league, CCS here we come.

CCS meeting on Saturday, Feb 16, to find out who, where and when we play. Expect the first match to be on Wednesday, Feb 21st. Win, and we will play the following Saturday, then Wednesday and Saturday for the final.

Wednesday, Feb. 13th is Senior Day. We honor the Senior players at this game. Parents of Seniors please attend if you can. Our final regular-season game against Marina is a critical game. Come out and cheer on our team to a big win.

Jumping ahead... The Zito family has volunteered to help coordinate the end of season banquet. Their son is a freshman and they are new to the area. We need a person(s) that has had experience with sports banquets and CHS systems to coordinate with the Zito's to show them the ropes and work on the banquet. Reply to this email/message if you can volunteer and I will put you together. JV and Varsity Captains will need to be thinking about coaches gifts.

Post-Season Change

We have two more games to play to finish the regular season.

• Monday, Feb. 11th PG @ Carmel
• Wednesday, Feb. 13th Marina @ Carmel

If the team makes it into CCS (post-season playoffs)... the CCS game schedule has been moved up by one week placing the CCS games and practice days right in the week of Feb. Break. If we make it into CCS playoffs a schedule of practices and game(s) will be announced. Stay tuned and flexible!

We know changing plans for February Break can be difficult, please make any changes possible to allow for your player to participate if we make it into the CCS playoffs.

In the meantime, come out and cheer our team on. We had a great turnout at the Soledad game!

JV - UPDATE

JV BUS WILL NOW DEPART AT 3:30.

RLS - BUS AND GAME TIMES

VARSITY - kickoff at 3:00pm.
                  -  bus departs CHS at 1:45. Bus will bring Varsity back to CHS after varsity game.

JV              - kickoff at 4:30
                  - JV bus departs CHS at 3:45. Bus will return JV team to CHS after their game.

Both games will be played in RLS' stadium.

Time Change for Gonzales Game!

Tuesday, January 29th Carmel @ Gonzales
JV will play at 4:00
Varsity will play at 5:30

This will be an important game for Carmel. It about a 45 minute drive from Carmel High to Gonzales (depending on traffic). Come out and cheer on our team — see you there!

Thursday, January 31st Carmel @ Carmel times are the same as posted. JV and Varsity play at the same time at RLS - Varsity in their "stadium" and JV at the Polo Fields.
both will kickoff at 3:30.

PCS Game Canceled

Yes, you read it right. The PCS game Tuesday, Jan. 22nd is canceled (no travel to Santa Cruz).

Our next game is Thursday, Jan. 24th in King City and will include the JV team as well as the Varsity team.
