Parent, Player, Coaches Meeting

Thanks to all the parents and players that showed up for our Parent/Player Meeting.

We got 21 new sign-ups for the website, but four of those went unverified... meaning that the email address entered was wrong, or it is in your spam filter, or in your inbox and needs to be confirmed. Good news is: If you received this via email you are successfully subscribed! Players, please make sure your parents are signed up and getting messages. Parents, please make sure your players are signed up and getting messages.

We still need some volunteer positions filled:
• End of Season Banquet coordinator(s): ?
• Website authors and/or photographers (we especially need someone to learn the website this year for next year): ?

Players are responsible for bringing their own water (and plenty of it) to all practices and games. Refrain from sharing water and stay healthy. Player are responsible for bringing their own snacks on game days — especially for away game days where the ride to and from the schools can be long.

HOLIDAY BREAK

This year we will all break from practices and games ,to vacay and spend time with our loved ones,from:

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 21st. - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30th.

BACK TO PRACTICE ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 31st, 3:00pm.

Please stay fit during this 10 day break.
We will practice as normal for the remainder of the week to prepare for our first League match on Friday, January 4th at CMS, 3:30 versus Greenfield.

BOYS SOCCER PARENT/PLAYER MEETING

Our mandatory parent/player meeting will be on :
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4th, 6:30-7:45  in the Cafeteria at the High School.

We will be addressing program expectations and requirements, philosophy, volunteer help,  schedules,etc.

ASB contributions towards the team tops are lower than in the past,but still extremely generous and appreciated. Also,the student led SOCCER ASB REPRESENTATIVES voted on team jackets this year rather than sweatshirts.

Each player will be required to contribute to this cost.

JV players will pay $39 and Varsity will pay $49

Each player will get a super cool team jacket, logo and name on back ( $70-$90 value), plus 2 pairs of team socks ($36 value), but will only have to contribute $30 or $49.
 I told the lads that they should put in a solid 8 hour workday for whoever is giving them the funds as repayment. Make them earn it,I say:)
We will collect atvthe meeting.

CCS Seeding Update

From Coach Ash:
Seeding and schedules will be confirmed after this Saturday's 1:00 meeting.
Looks likely that we will play on Tuesday the 21st or Wednesday the 22nd, so we will practice today (Friday), Monday, and Tuesday at the least.
If we win round 1, then we will play on Saturday 25th, so practices will continue until the season is over.

Congratulation and Changes: Please Read

Congratulations to the varsity team for making it to CCS. In last night's game, Anzar upset Greenfield with as 2-1 victory. This means that Carmel finishes the season in the top three in the Mission Trail League and will advance to CCS. For varsity: this means more practices and game(s) with a schedule that is yet to be determined.

What this means for tonight's Soccer Banquet... Coach Ash now has to make a 7:00 pm coaches meeting. We are attempting to move tonight's banquet up to a 5:30 pm start. We will change (improvise)  the "normal" order of events to make sure Coach Ash can make his meeting and we can celebrate the season together! If you can't make the 5:30 pm change, come as soon as you can and join the celebration.

All JV players should be bringing their clean uniform to turn in to Coach Mick. All players should be bringing their contribution for the coaches gift to give to their team captains.

Note to Coaches... Do NOT read this paragraph: Parents and Players: JV players get $15. dollars to your team captains. Varsity players get $20. to either Galen or Tito. If you have not already done this you are late!

Help Needed for Banquet Set-Up/Clean Up

On a personal note, I would like to mention the generous hospitality of the Greenfield team, fans, and head coach. They had perhaps the biggest showing of fans of any game. They made signs for our team that hung on the fence saying, "GO CARMEL." The head coach included our Senior players by including them in the recognition of graduating players. This modeling of sportsmanship was inspiring to witness and feel.

We begin our league games this week. Starting with RLS @ Carmel with both Varsity and JV playing at 3:30.

Friday we play Pacific Grove at PG. JV will play at 3:15 and the Varsity game will follow at 5:00

Varsity Snacks

Please contact Varsity Snack Coordinator, Denise O’Toole at dduffy@ddaplanning.com , as soon as you can to sign up for bringing snacks to a Varsity game. So far all games have been covered so thanks to the Coppingers, Truesdells, O’Tooles, Yeaters, Lori Davidson, Charlotte Empey, Janice Taormina, as well as Kim Stemler, Mary Westerman and Tara Rainey for future games -- and anyone I missed! A few families have already signed up to cover two games. We only have 7 games left to cover.

Stuff of the New Year

Wishing everyone the best of the new year.

Thanks to Ducky O'Toole and Leslie Trapin for stepping up to take on coordinating fundraising. A few plans are in the works which you will hear about soon.

JV Parents: Please contact JV Snack Coordinator, Shelley Albert, ASAP to sign up for bringing snacks to a JV game. So far only two games have been covered. Email Shelley Albert at: ssalbert@yahoo.com.

Snacks suggested by Coach are healthy snack/energy bars and/or cut up oranges or tangerines that can be peeled. All players are responsible for their own drinks for games and practices. Team members are responsible to clean up all peels, wrappers, water bottles, etc from the field. If you are providing snacks for an away game it is best to send the snacks with your player on the bus. Thanks in advance for your participation in team's success.
