CARMEL 10 - LPS 0

Don't let the scoreline fool you!

Yes,LPS is a charter school,medium sized for a charter,but this team has " players" who had quality.

They were unbeaten last year and only lost 2 senior players.

In the first 12 minutes,LPS kept the play in Carmels half,and had 4 good attempts on our goal.Great defensive work and 3 crucial saves from Chad kept it at 0-0 or it could have been quite a different game.

Our work in the past few practices was to attack in force and be decisive in front of goal.

Our first four attacks resulted in goals!

This set the pace for the remainder of the game,and even with many player position changes we kept our shape and discipline to "earn" the shutout win.

Well done TEAM!

Happy Holidays: Here's the Varsity Schedule

HOLIDAY BREAK: Varsity will have a week off during the break: Thursday, December 22nd through Wednesday, December 28th. Practices will start again on December 29th. Practices during the break are at: 11:00am at CMS.

There is one game during the break: Monday Dec. 19th - LPS San Jose @ CMS, Varsity: 3:30. No JV game. The Wednesday Dec. 21st game that was on the schedule is canceled.

The first game for Varsity is on the day we return from the break, Monday, January 2 - St Francis @ CMS, Varsity: 3:30. No JV game.

JV Practice Update

We will have a practice on Wednesday, Dec. 14th @ 3:30 due to finals week and the Christmas Vacation that will be our last one till we return after the break. Unfortunately my schedule at work does not allow me to take time off. Hope every one has a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. We will resume practice beginning December 26th if we have sufficient numbers. They can confirm their availability via text 831-917-6605. Mick

Fundraising

We are still in need of someone to coordinate fundraising for the team. Coach Ash has some great ideas and is willing to be involved. The position should not take an inordinate amount of time.

We played against a very good footballing team on Wednesday. Alvarez are very organized and quick. We held our own and competed really well. FRIDAYS GAME AT MONTEREY - TIME CHANGE

Sorry, it seems everyone is noticing conflicts in scheduling!

On Friday, December 9th, we travel to play Monterey.

VARSITY will kickoff at 3:00pm and play close to a full game.

JV will follow right after and play as much as daylight allows (should be 30-35 minute halves).

Snacks for Games!

Thanks to Shelley Albert. Shelley will be coordinating snacks for the JV team games. You can contact her to sign up for a game(s). Cell 601-2916  or email: ssalbert@yahoo.com.

Thanks to Denise Duffy O'Toole. Denise will be coordinating snacks for the Varsity team. Denise and Ducky are going to be at the Varsity game today (Monday, Dec. 5th) to sign up varsity parents for snacks for upcoming games. They will be on the field immediately after the game for sign ups. Please sign up for one or two games. It's easy and will help out our coaches and kids. Varsity team count for items: 20-22

Snacks suggested by Coach are healthy snack/energy bars and/or cut up oranges or tangerines that can be peeled. All players are responsible for their own drinks for games and practices. Team members are responsible to clean up all peels, wrappers, water bottles, etc from the field.

If you are providing snacks for an away game it is best to send the snacks with your player on the bus.

GAME CHANGE - PCS

Our first league match,at home vs PCS, which was scheduled to be played on JAN 6th has been moved to JAN 24th.

This should not affect us.

Please mark your calendars.

MONDAY - VARSITY vs YORK

VARSITY will play YORK at CMS on Monday,December 5th, (no JV), kickoff 3:30.

There is a ton of great stuff to take away from our first game this season - we challenged a good Monterey squad in every aspect,taking a two goal lead,communicating well,holding shape,and everyone working hard for the team.

We know what we need to work on,nothing new and nothing that we can not achieve.

FINALS WEEK & HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

FINALS WEEK - We have a Varsity only game away at ANZAR on Monday, December 12th.

- I did not book any games for the remainder of this week so the lads could study, however, I would like to still have practice daily. Short ones, 3:30 - 5pm. (We will confirm this together, and amend if needed.)

HOLIDAY BREAK - We will have a week off during the break, THURSDAY , DECEMBER 22nd - WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 28th.

Back to practice on Thursday, December 29th to get ready for our three games the following week, including our first league game on Friday, January 6th.

Please mark your calendars, it is important that we are all together to work on team unity.

SOCCER BANQUET CHANGED TO FRIDAY, MARCH 18

We have to change the date of the soccer banquet to the 18th.  I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. It ends up the girls soccer team has their banquet on the 17th. Quite a few of you couldn't make the 17th - so hopefully this makes it more convenient.

The end of season banquet will be held FRIDAY MARCH 18th at the CHS Cafeteria at 6pm.  

Please bring the following dishes according to your last name:

If you would like to help with set up/clean up please give either be at the cafeteria at 5:15.

It was great to see so many dedicated CHS fans up in San Francisco weathering the cold temperatures of Golden Gate Park to cheer our team on.

Game Change Alert

The location for our match tomorrow has been changed.
We now play at:
KEZAR STADIUM
755 STANYAN ST
San Francisco, on the southeastern corner of Golden Gate Park

Still 6pm kickoff.

Our bus leaves CHS at 2pm!

Take the last part of the directions with a grain of salt as it looks like there are a few options for parking.

CCS SCHEDULE: Location Changed... See latest post

Our first playoff match is on Wednesday at 6pm in San Francisco against Sacred Heart Cathedral at Crocker Amazon Park. Game is now at Kezar Stadium.

I will confirm transportation as soon as I get a reply from CHS.

We will practice on Monday and Tuesday at 3pm at CMS.

Here is a link to how to get to Crocker Amazon Playground: Directions to the Game. This route shows going up 101, you can also change the route to use the 280.

CCS PLAYOFFS

CONGRATULATIONS LADS FOR MAKING IT TO CCS!

There will not be any games the week of February 14-20.

Because of this we shall give ourselves some much deserved rest and train lightly this week:

No practice Monday and Tuesday, we shall resume on Wednesday.

CCS will wait for other matches around to tri-county to be played before having their meeting to decide seeding, game dates and locations.

Most likely, we will be looking to play our first round match AWAY on either Tuesday 22nd or Wednesday 23rd.

Win this and we play the Quarter final game on Saturday 26th.

Semi-final on Wednesday, March 2nd and the Final on Saturday, March 5th.

These are tentative dates, but should be pretty close.

Thanks to everyone for supporting,boy have we had a few exciting games this season, but hang in there cuz we ain't done yet!!!!!

Golden Boot: Carmel @ PG 2/12/11

Never have I witnessed a game where more shots were fired on goal, but did not somehow make their way into the net. Carmel dominated the game. I was impressed by some of the amazing passes and team play that I saw out on the field. The intensity with which everyone played was inspiring.

Mission Trail Boys' Soccer

RLS & PG

We are 3 league matches into the season and looking good!

Lot's more hard and important work to do,so we need to stay focused,but coaches Mick, Justin and I are really pleased with our growth so far.

Last week proved that if we play as a team then we are capable of achieving greatness.

The Varsity bunch performed brilliantly against RLS on Wednesday (2-0) and held strong to overcome a very determined PG (3-2) on Friday.

Everyone has stepped up their game and are showing their true individual value but more so,their responsibilities as team members. Brilliant!!!!

The JV's had a difficult time against RLS (0-3),however as is the principle of our program,we learn from our defeats more than our victories,and the team bounced back in dramatic fashion to come from behind to beat PG (2-1) on Friday.

Nice one Lads!

Hope to see as many of you out for upcoming games,it should be exciting.

TEAM SWEATSHIRTS!

We are getting ready to print this years' team sweatshirts - a new logo and style!

The players will get theirs on a dark grey,with red and white design.

If there are any fans that would like to order one for themselves or someone else,now is the time.

The fans' crew neck sweatshirts will be printed on a nice red,with grey and white design.

Depending on how many are ordered ,we are looking at a cost of around $26 per sweatshirt.

Please text me to let me know as soon as you can as to what size/sizes you would like (adult s - xxl).
